Our crew consisted of Mark, Tom, Abbi, Alan, Pat and Bud Harris, Lisa and myself. The wind was light from 30 degrees and continued to drop from there. We managed to slightly play the current, but mostly, it played with us. I must speculate, that the lift we received in Potter Cove, was most likely an eddy of the outgoing tide. We withdrew from the competition when we figured that we would have needed to exceed hull speed to complete the course within the time limit. By that time, we had only managed to achieve reaching a point just north of Gould Island. On motoring back to Conanicut Yacht Club, we took a Luders 24, Belle in tow and passed by Warlord to say, "Hello." Back at the CYC, we enjoyed the Reggae band, barbacue and drinks. The awards ceremony was very brief, with only seven boats in classes A and B finishing, out of a total fleet of 112 boats. Our crew consisted of Mark, Tom, Jim, Bob, Ralph, Jen, John, Abbi, Brooke and myself.
I will have our tracks for these two races online soon.
Our class had a general recall in the first race attempt of the EGYC Wednesday Night Series. The restart found us over early. We lost 4 minutes, 24 seconds on the return and dip of the starting line, but we did manage to make-up some of that time by the finish. From now on, I will have my VHF handy for the RC calls.
