©1992 by David W. Hurd
This image was photographed, shortly after dawn, on Kodak Ektachrome film, which I manually loaded into a Kodak disposable weatherproof camera. It was taken from from the top of the headstay of Recursion, a New York 36 which I was foredeck for, during the 1992 Stamford-Block Island Race, over the May 28 weekend. Going to the top of the headstay is a relatively rare occasion to free crossed headsail halyards.
This image was awarded First Place in the Class A Slides category monthly photographic competition at the Stony Brook Camera Club, in Norfolk, Massachusetts, on 5 February 1998, as judged by Jake Mosser III.
